‘Rainbow 1’is a new middle maturing apple cultivar derived from the cross of‘Liquan Spur Fuji’בGolden Delicious’,whose fruit is nearly round with the shape index of 0.84. The average fruit weight is 260 g. The fruit surface is smooth without rust,and the skin is in bright red color with yellow background. The flesh is yellowish-white with fine texture,crisp taste,abundant juice,sour- sweet flavor and strong fragrance. The fruit firmness and soluble solids content is 10.2 kg ? cm-2 and 14.6%,respectively. The fruit development period is around 140 d. In Qingdao,the ripening time is in middle or late September. It has the characters of high budding rate,strong branching ability and easy flower buds formation. Fruiting mainly occurs in short branches,and the ability of continuous fruit is strong,which results in high and stable yield. The tree is also highly resistant to apple Glomerella leaf spot disease. This new cultivar can be applied in regions which are suitable to‘Fuji’apple production.
‘Jiangnan Hong’is a new sweet cherry cultivar bred by crossing‘Hongdeng’with‘Lapins’. It is suitable for weather condition in subtropical areas. The fruits are red to dark red,oblate spheroidal. The average single fruit weight is 7.7 g and the biggest one is 13.0 g. The flesh is red,dense succulent. The edible rate,total acid,vitamin C and the soluble solids contents are 92.8%,9.84 g ? kg-1,68.7 mg ? kg-1 and 17.5%,respectively. It is an early-ripening sweet cherry cultivar with sweet taste,rich flavor and medium yield.
‘Spring Honey’is a new table grape cultivar bred through crossing between‘Sivan’and ‘Rousalka’. The cultivar is of middle size cluster. The berries are cylindrical shape,seeded,weighing averagely 9.8 g,of yellow-green color. The soluble solids content is 19.3 °Brix. The flesh is crunchy and the skin is thin,the overall consumption quality is high. The vine bud breaks in late March,blooms in mid May,and the berries ripen around middle August in Beijing area.
‘Golden Bell’is a small-fruited Cucurbita moschata cultivar derived from‘Mi33’(female parent)בTai1-1’(male parent). The cultivar has its first female flower at around the node position 17 on the main vine,with oblate and pear-shaped fruits produced at lower and higher node positions respectively. The single fruits weighs about 1.3 kg,with pulp thickness of 2.6 cm and smooth,shiny peel. The fruits taste sticky,sweet and uniquely fragrant,and have nice storablity,transportability,and commercial quality. ‘Golden Bell’is easy to grow and has high stress tolerance. Field studies revealed that it is resistant to powdery mildew and tolerant to blight and viral diseases. It takes around 95 days from seed germination to first harvest,having a long harvest time with a total production of 19 500 kg ? hm-2. ‘Golden Bell’is most suitable to grow in Guangdong,Guangxi,Hainan,and the southern part of Hunan Province.
Cymbidium‘Yunü Danxin’is derived from the cross of female Cymbidium lianpan ‘Baixue Gongzhu’and male Cymbidium ensifolium‘Guannian’. With the three star characteristics and the feature of white transparent petals,it likes Cymbidium ensifolium‘Guannian’in appearance and is easy to produce seedlings by both micropropagation and division method. When cultured in greenhouse,it begins to bloom in the late of June and the flowering lasts 80–100 days. There are about three to nine flowers in an inflorescence with the average diameter of 23.7 cm.
‘Bolang’is a new cultivar of Lespedeza bicolor which was selected from American provenance seedlings by individual selection. It is bush cover and the edge of leaf is corrugated. It has a large number of flowers and dense inflorescence. The color of flowers is light red purple. Flowering period in Beijing is from late August to mid-to-end September. It has high ornamental value,multiple uses and good resistance. It can adapt barren land and be a good shrub for slope greening.
Dendrocalamus latiflorus‘Aijiaoma’is a new bamboo cultivar with height less than 12 m,diameter at breast height(DHB)is less than 8 cm,and internode less than 30 cm. It starts branching from the fifth or sixth bamboo joint. The bamboo shooting period is long,from early May to early November. The bamboo shoot is small. The texture of bamboo shoots is delicate and crisp. The bamboo shoots also have good quality with a high nutritional value.
