Abstract: ‘Zhenong 301’is a new tea cultivar suitable for processing green tea，which is selected from‘Jiaming 1’natural hybrid offspring and bred by single plant selection and systematic selection. The cultivar is a shrub type，with middle leaves and yellow-green shoots. It has the characteristics such as early and evenly sprouting，high yield and excellent quality. Based on the first round picking in spring，the average contents of water extracts，tea polyphenols，catechins，amino acids and caffeine in one bud and two leaves were 49.3%，19.8%，13.7%，4.3%，and 3.5%，respectively. The baked green tea has tight and heavy with jade green appearance，high and lasting chestnut aroma，fresh-brisk and sweet after taste. ‘Zhenong 301’also showed strong cold，drought，insects and disease tolerance，and is suitable for planting in Zhejiang and other areas with similar climate condition.
