Abstract: Some aspects of biological and photosynthetic characteristics of‘Hongdeng’with two different rootstockswere studied. The results showed that the Hongdeng on ‘Gisela 5’was dwarfish and had larger SLW and stomata density. During the response of photosynthetsis to light, Hongdeng on Gisela 5 had higher ability to use light and CO2 than that of Hongdeng on ‘Colt’. In comparison with Hongdeng on Colt, Hongdeng with Gisela 5 as rootstock, growing amount adap ted well to dwarf and compact culture.
