Abstract: ‘Huqie 5’is a new hybrid of eggplant developed by crossing inbred line Eg201-1-11-2-3-6-2 selected from‘Jiangfeng 1’with inbred line Eg148-2-4-4-8-1-11 selected from ‘Eg148’. It grows vigorously and matures early. The plant height is 100 cm，the first flower is in 8–10th node. The shape of fruit is slender，the average fruit length is 35 cm to 40 cm，the fruit width is about 3 cm，and the fruit weight is about 100 g. The peel color is purplish black，with good luster，high quality and yield. Its appropriate cultivation area is in the east China and central China Valley.
