Abstract: ‘Mengzi’is a new Michelia cultivar which was selected from hybrid crossing Michelia chapensis × M. crassipes. It is an evergreen arbor with purplish red tepals whose primary color is ivory-white. The florescence can start from March until April. The cultivar can resist high temperature and likes the warm and moist climate，so it can be widely planted in the south of the Yangtze River.
