Abstract: ‘Danhong 3’is a new pumpkin cultivar bred by crossing self-line‘Fenhong 1’（female
parent）and inbred line‘Hongpi 6’（male parent）and it has many excellent characteristics such as early
maturing，high fruit-setting rate and commodity fruit rate. The single fruit weight is about 1.0–1.5 kg. The
appearance of the fruit looks good，including oblate fruit，and red skin with pale yellow stripes. In
addition，‘Danhong 3’has good quality with orange flesh，high disease resistance and good adaptive
capacity. The variety is suitable to be widely cultivated in China，especially in South China.
