Abstract: ‘Zhuqie 9’is a new F₁ eggplant cultivar developed by crossing self-line P98-01 selected from Henan‘Runan Ziyuanqie’eggplant variety with self-line H01-12 selected from Hebei‘Chengqie 2’. The fruit is egg round-shaped，purplish red and white fruit pulp. The fruit’s longitudinal diameter and transverse diameter are 12.30 cm and 12.40 cm respectively，meanwhile the average fruit weight is about 540 g. The fruit is of smooth surface，less fibre，better quality and high yield. It has strong resistance to bacterial wilt，phytophthora rot and Verticillium wilt，disease indexes were 1.37，3.10 and 3.37. The new eggplant hybrid‘Zhuqie 9’is suitable to be cultivated in spring in protected and open field in Henan.
