Abstract: ‘Yanzhi’is a new azalea cultivar bred by artifical cross of female parent Rhododendron pulchyrum Sweet and male parent‘Red Apple’. Its flower is hose-in-hose，its color is rose red（Red purple Group 67B），and its petal has five circular lobes，its septals are petalody，the pistil and stamens are all shorter than the corolla. The diameter of flower is 6.0–7.0 cm. It grows vigorously with exuberant blossom，tolerance to high temperature and high humidity，and resistance to disease. It is suitable for open-field cultivation in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. Its natural florescence is earlier than its parents and from late-March to early-April. Its flowering can last 15–20 days.
