Abstract: The new purple potato cultivar‘Mianziyu 1’was bred from a cross between‘Belchip’（female）and‘River John Blue’（male）. It has mid-early maturity，and its growth period is about 71 days. The tuber is long shape with purple and smooth skin，purple flesh and shallow eyes. It tastes good. Dry matter content 20.09%，starch 15.20%，reducing sugar 0.10%，vitamin C 0.023%，anthocyanin 0.046%. The yield of‘Mianziyu 1’is 18 520–26 300 kg • hm-2. It is high resistant to potato virus and susceptible to late blight in field. It is suitable for planting in winter，spring and autumn cropping areas above 400 m altitude in Sichuan Province.
