Abstract: ‘Yuqie 5’is a new eggplant hybrid developed by crossing 11-45-11-1-2-1 as the female parent and 194-1-2 as the male parent. The fruit is long cylindric with smooth and shining purplish black peel，36 cm in length，5.8 cm in diameter，330 g in weight per fruit. Its calyx is purple，and the peel color under calyx is purplish red. Its pulp is loose and with a few seeds in it. The average yield is 67 980 kg • hm-2. ‘Yuqie 5’has lodging resistance，heat and drought tolerance. It is suitable for long harvest and grafting cultivation in open field in Southwestern China.
