Abstract:

‘Xitian 5’is a new early maturing oriental melon hybrid. The average single fruit weight is 450-550 g. The fruit is long pear shaped whose skin is white-bright,covered with yellowish halo on the surface,and the skin is thin and tough. The flesh is white,1.7 cm thick,crisp,sweet and fragrant. The soluble solids content in central part is 13%-15%. The whole fruit growth period is 80-85 days,and fruit development period is 26-29 days. The yield is up to 45 000 kg · hm^-2. It has a good resistance to powdery mildew,gummy stem blight and tolerant storage-transportation.
