Abstract: ‘Zilong 9’is a new eggplant F1 hybrid developed by inbred line YC1-1 as female parent and YC3-1 as male parent. It is of early maturity. It has strong vigorous growth potential and high temperature resistance. The commodity fruit is long stick shape with purple sepal，smooth and shining deep purple skin，around 40 cm in length，3.5–4.0 cm in diameter and 220–240 g in weigh. The fruit colour doesn’t change at high temperature. The cultivar has strong continuous fruit-set ability，up to 70 000 kg • hm-2. It is suitable for protected cultivation in early spring and in open field in summer and autumn in Yangtze river.
